Hello!
I’m Max. I’m a writer and Filmmaker from Suffolk.
My work predominantly focuses on ideas of environmentalism, interconnectivity, and nationhood, inspired by growing up in rural East Anglia.
My debut feature film, Breakwater, received its World Premiere at Raindance Film Festival, 23-24 June 2025, where it was the nominated film at the festival, for Best UK Feature, Best Director, Best Debut Director, Best Performance, and Best Cinematography.
I also write and direct award-nominated short films and theatre. For the next year I will be working with Kenny Emson in the Mercury Theatre Writers Group. In 2024, I worked with Mike Bartlett in the Old Fire Station Writers Group and was shortlisted for the Peter Shaffer Playwrighting Award.
I am currently working on a limited comedy series about community, borders, and climate activism in the countryside.
